How to Use the AFT Calculator

Use this Army AFT calculator to estimate your Army Fitness Test standards results across five core events. Enter your raw performance data and instantly see your AFT score chart, event breakdown, and pass/fail status.

1

Choose your specialty track: Combat Standard or General Standard (Male/Female).

2

Select your official age bracket to apply the proper dynamic scaling curve.

3

Input physical scores for the MDL, HRP, SDC, PLK, and 2MR events.

4

Review the points scorecard, event breakdown, and target goals.

5

Verify passing criteria (minimum 60 points per event; total 350 for Combat / 300 for General).

6

Use the What-If Simulator to visualize physical performance improvements.

Why Use AFT Scoring Tables?

AFT scoring tables are event-specific and vary by age band and category. Using the published Army standards ensures your estimated score is as close to the real result as possible.

  • Army-Published Standards: Scoring aligned with the AFT scoring scales approved May 15, 2025 and effective June 1, 2025.
  • Correct Pass/Fail Logic: Accurately tracks combined total points limits alongside event minimum thresholds (60 pts/event).

AFT Standards Comparison by Specialty Track

Army Fitness Test standards depend on whether your MOS maps to Combat Specialties or General Support categories. Combat roles are completely sex-neutral, emphasizing identical operational capabilities. Use this AFT score chart to compare pass/fail thresholds.

AFT Events Scored by This Calculator

The standardized Army Fitness Test includes five distinct drills, covering strength, anaerobic speed, upper/lower endurance, and aerobic stamina.

MDL – Max Deadlift

3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift evaluating core, grip, and lower body muscular power.

HRP – Hand-Release Push-up

Horizontal pushing upper endurance requiring brief release of hands at chest position.

SDC – Sprint-Drag-Carry

Agility and speed sprint, pulling sleds, and carrying weights back and forth.

PLK – Core Plank

Isometric core muscular stamina assessing postural durability under strain.

2MR – Two-Mile Run

Aerobic capacity endurance test determining sustained cardiovascular health.

Army Fitness Test Guidelines

The AFT evaluates continuous physical health. As the test of record since June 1, 2025, it guarantees deployment readiness across combat and technical support roles.

AFT Calculator FAQ

Essential answers regarding Army physical fitness metrics and scoring rules.

What is the AFT Calculator?

The AFT Calculator translates physical repetitions and times from five Army events into scores (0 to 100 per event) to calculate compliance with General and Combat standards.

What is a passing AFT score?

For General support tracks, passing requires a minimum score of 60 on all events and a total of 300 points. For Combat Specialties, passing requires a minimum score of 60 on all events and a total of 350 points.

Is the AFT the same as the ACFT?

No. The Army Fitness Test (AFT) replaced the ACFT as the test of record on June 1, 2025. It removed the Standing Power Throw event and revised the scoring tables to be sex-neutral for Combat Specialties.

Does failing one event mean I fail the AFT?

Yes. To pass, you must score at least 60 points in every single event. Scoring below 60 on any event results in a failing overall scorecard, regardless of your total point aggregate.

Is the Combat Standard sex-neutral?

Yes. The Army's Combat Specialty standard enforces a single sex-neutral physical requirement curve, adjusted only for age group norms, to guarantee readiness in front-line operational roles.

What age groups does the AFT use?

The AFT uses ten standard age bands starting from 17-21, up to 62+. Benchmark tables adjust dynamic passing thresholds to scale difficulty fairly by age.

Alternate AFT Events

Soldiers with approved profiles may use alternate aerobic events instead of the Two-Mile Run. These are go/no-go events based on official time standards, not 0–100 point events.

2.5-Mile Walk

Alternate aerobic event for soldiers with approved profiles. Scored as go/no-go based on official time thresholds.

12 km Stationary Bike

Cycling endurance alternate. Soldiers must complete the distance within the published time standard for their age and category.

1 km Swim

Aquatic endurance alternate event. Time standards are published in the AFT Scoring Scales PDF.

5 km Row

Rowing endurance alternate. Go/no-go based on time thresholds from official Army publications.

Alternate aerobic events are not scored as point events in this AFT calculator. They are go/no-go events based on official time standards published in the AFT Scoring Scales PDF.
