Baccalaureate Calculator FAQ

Essential answers for IB, French Bac, Romanian Bacalaureat, and custom grading systems.

What is a baccalaureate calculator?

A baccalaureate calculator estimates your final exam score or average based on the grading rules of your selected system — IB Diploma, French Bac Général, Romanian Bacalaureat, or a custom weighted exam.

How do I calculate my IB Diploma score?

Add your six IB subject grades (each scored 1–7), then add your TOK and Extended Essay bonus points (up to 3). The maximum IB Diploma score is 45.

What score do I need to pass the IB Diploma?

You need at least 24 total points, CAS completion, no grade E in TOK/EE, no grade 1 in any subject, and compliance with HL/SL minimum point requirements.

How is the French Baccalauréat average calculated?

Each subject grade is multiplied by its official coefficient and the sum is divided by the total of all coefficients. The overall average is out of 20, with a passing threshold of 10.

What are the French Bac mention levels?

The French Bac awards mentions based on your average: Assez Bien (≥12), Bien (≥14), Très Bien (≥16). Some high scorers may also receive the Félicitations du Jury.

What score do I need to pass the Romanian Bacalaureat?

You need at least 5.00 in each of the three written exams (Română, Obligatorie, Alegere) and a final weighted average of at least 6.00, according to the Romanian Bacalaureat passing conditions.

What does 'media bacalaureat' mean?

Media bacalaureat (Romanian Bacalaureat average) is the arithmetic mean of the three written exam grades. Mandatory competency tests are required for diploma award but are not included in this average.

Can I use this calculator for other baccalaureate systems?

Yes. The custom mode lets you set a maximum score and pass threshold for any baccalaureate-style system, such as Italian Maturità, Spanish Bachillerato, or other national leaving exams.
